Become A Volunteer
The Alberta Sports Hall of Fame & Museum has various volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Volunteers play very important roles in our success through events, data entry, and visitor services.
Throughout the years, we have had many amazing volunteers who have donated their time to the ASHFM. Some volunteer a couple times per week, while others help with the major events such as the Induction Banquet and Golf Tournament. Whether you donate just a few hours of your time or are a regular face around the office, your hard work and dedication are appreciated. Thank you for everything you do!

How to get involved
Volunteer Week 2018
Celebrate the Value of Volunteering - Building Confidence, Competence, Connections & Community
Confidence - Our Volunteers receive training and support from our knowledgeable Staff about their duties, what to expect, and how to make the most out of their time with us. Volunteers who trust in their team and act as a team inspire confidence to those around them. We want our Volunteer Team to inspire the same feelings of trust to those that interact with the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame.
Competence - Individuals who volunteer with us will be trained in their volunteer task, but will also gain valuable skills such as time management, visitor services, and a unique understanding of sport history. We are proud to offer tasks that help build skills that are desirable within the work force but also to help develop skills to those that need that little bit of extra help. Being a museum and Hall of Fame, we are able to offer hands-on development of skills in time management, visitor services, data entry, event planning, and research. Above all, we offer a unique understanding of sport history in our province.
Connections - When an individual volunteers with us, you are not only joining that event or project, but you are now a member of the ASHFM Team. As a Team, we celebrate our success and support your endeavours, and invite you to get to know one another better. Many of our volunteers and visitors at the ASHFM include prominent members of the sport community and Hall of Fame members. Through this Team atmosphere, networking comes natural, not only with your sports heroes but also with ASHFM Staff and Board. ASHFM acknowledges the value of connection in the sporting history community.
Community - The Alberta Sports Hall of Fame and Museum mission is to preserve and celebrate Alberta's rich sports history for all to enjoy. We accomplish this through the tireless efforts of our wonderful volunteers. We are an extremely close Team and we invite you to be a part of our sport community.

The Alberta Sports Hall of Fame and Museum hosts an annual Induction Banquet in May each year in Red Deer, Alberta. More than 600 people from across the provinces and United States attend this gala event to honour Alberta's great athletes, sport builders, pioneers, and media personnel. At this prestigious event 10 extraordinary Albertans that have made an impact on sport in our province, county and around the world are honoured. The event not only honours these great Albertans but it recognizes the importance of sport in our lives and communities.
Induction Banquet volunteers can expect to commit 2-3 days in May dedicated to preparation and implementation of this gala event. This may include decorating, organizing, directing crowds, seating visitors, silent auction, raffles, and enjoying the gala itself.
If you are looking for a year round commitment, you may be interested in the Planning Committee. There are several project meetings held throughout the year, all dedicated to the Induction Banquet.
The annual fundraising Golf Tournament is held in early August at the beautiful Innisfail Golf and Country Club. This major fundraising event is a fun day; rain or shine. This day is full of good laughs and the occasion meet and greet with an Alberta Sports Hall of Fame Member.
Golf Tournament volunteers can expect a 1 day commitment with duties that may include hole monitoring, registration, raffles, prizes, and helping with the silent auction.
