Biography

Lloyd Turner figured prominently in a number of sports before making his contribution in hockey. He came to Calgary in 1907 as a professional baseball catcher and later managed local arenas. He worked with the Calgary Tigers Hockey Team in the 1920's when they challenged for the Stanley Cup. Lloyd Turner coached the Calgary Stampeder Hockey Team to Allan Cup victories in 1945, 1948 and 1950. He was manager of the Corral until his retirement in 1979. Lloyd Turner is one of the original 25 Hockey Hall of Fame members.
