George Blundun served as Vice-President and President of the Canadian Skating Association. He was appointed as an International Judge for Ice Skating and judged at the World Championships in both 1970 and 1971. In 1971, he was elected to the International Skating Union Ice Dancing Committee. A former Air Canada Award winner, he is also recognized as the founder of the prestigious "Skate Canada" competition. In 1972, George Blundun was General Chairman of the World Figure Skating Championships which were held in Calgary.
