AB: This biography of the Edmonton Oilers follows not only the dynastic team that captured five Stanley Cups in seven seasons during the eighties, but also the history of hockey in Edmonton, the business realities of running a professional team and the investment of the fans. The antics of Oilers owner Peter "Puck" Pocklington are followed and the contributions to the team by men like Bill Hunter and Glen Sather are highlighted alongside the proclivity to greatness exhibited by stars like Gretzky, Messier, Coffey, Fuhr and Kurri. This fascinating account opens and closes with the finical crisis faced by Pocklington in the late nineties and the cliff-hanger fate of the Oilers before their purchase by the Edmonton Investor Group.
