A.E. Cross Family fonds 1836-1987
Alfred Ernest Cross, 1861-1932, was born in Montreal and came to Alberta in 1884. The following year he started the A7 Ranche west of Nanton, Alberta. He founded the Calgary Brewing and Malting Company in 1892, and was president until his death. He served on the North-West Assembly from 1899 to1902. He was a founding member of the Western Stock Growers' Association, Calgary Board of Trade and the Ranchmen's Club (for which he served as president, 1906-1908 and 1911-1912), and was one of the "Big Four" who founded the Calgary Stampede.

The Canadian Professional Rodeo Association originated in 1944. The fonds consists of minutes (on microfilm), general and membership correspondence, correspondence with local rodeo committees, judges cards, rule books and directories, rodeo programs and posters, financial statements and press kits.

Fred Gladstone fonds 1959-1987
Fred Gladstone, 1918- , was born on the Blood reserve in southern Alberta, the son of Senator James Gladstone and his wife, Janie Healy Gladstone. He attended St. Paul's Anglican Residential School, but left at age sixteen to take up a rodeo career. He travelled the rodeo circuit throughout western Canada and northwestern USA, winning the Canadian calf-roping championship in 1948 and 1950.
