Bowling Introduction
"The principal of the game in which participants must knock down pins by rolling a ball at them goes back to ancient Egypt and Rome. In the Middle Ages, the sport spread throughout Europe. Dutch immigrants introduced the game to North America in the 17th century. In the early 19th century, the number of pins was raised from 9 to 10 and the rules began to be set in place. Bowling developed mainly in the United States and was reintroduced to Europe after the Second World Way." - Information provided from Fortin, Francois. Sports: The Complete Visual Reference.
